Presented as a series of artistic events that tap into Valletta 2018's legacy of engagement with audiences, Quintessence is an immersive and innovative project that experiments with awareness through sound, inviting publics to engage with sound/space experiences. In addition to solo performances and sound/video installations, Quintessence includes ‘Sounding Dance’, a series of artistic encounters designed for delivery in European public spaces that explore modes of interaction within a space with, through and between sound. How does sound affect communities and identities? How does it relate to time, memory and diverse spaces?
Created and curated by Renzo Spiteri.
Produced by #EngageCREATIVES.
Quintessence is an on-going Valletta 2018 and #EngageCREATIVES collaboration and is Valletta 2018’s touring project.
of peace and unrest
Of Peace and Unrest is a two-year collaborative journey that stimulates, challenges and immerses audiences in multicultural debate. In its creative process, the project integrates a team of practitioners to develop and present a multimedia performance and a docu-film that highlight the socio-cultural realities of contemporary society and document the social reality of exile, of conflict and of struggle for space. The project offers a dynamic platform through which audiences can experience seamless artistic co-operation and contemporary transnational integration through the universal language of the arts that transcends language, religion and race.
Artistic collaboration: Renzo Spiteri (Malta), Vakia Stavrou (Cyprus), Toni Cuenca (Spain) and Jovan Milosevski (Macedonia).
Produced by: #EngageCREATIVES
Of Peace and Unrest is supported by Arts Council Malta and the Valletta 2018 Foundation - Multi-Annual Support Grant (Malta Arts Fund).
